For decades, Lee has been synonymous with family law in Pasadena. He also draws a clientele from throughout Southern California and is known for his skill, experience, sound judgment and integrity in the family law community. He is known and respected by judges and his colleagues. His practice covers all aspects of family law – child custody and support, property division and valuation, spousal support, parentage matters, mediation and premarital and postmarital agreements. He represents everyone from blue collar workers to highly compensated professionals, stay at home parents, wealthy individuals, professional athletes and many others.
Lee attended Stanford University, graduating in 1973. He went on to law school at USC, graduating and being admitted to the California Bar in 1976. He went to work with Clifford Anderson, a legendary divorce lawyer in Pasadena, in 1976. He and Cliff became partners after a few years and enjoyed a productive and fascinating practice together until Cliff’s retirement in 1995. Lee has spent his entire career practicing family law in Pasadena.
Lee has been a Certified Family Law Specialist since 1983 shortly after the California State Bar specialization program was started. He has been a fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, the most prestigious and selective nationwide organization of family law lawyers, since 1995. From 2008 to the present, he has been listed in the Best Lawyers in America and he and his firm have the highest designation of Tier 1 in Family Law. He has been named a Southern California Super Lawyer since 2005.
Lee has been active in bar activities. He is a past president of the Pasadena Bar Association. He has also been a speaker at continuing education of the bar programs.
Lee is married to his wife of almost forty years Emilie and has two grown children.
Because of Lee’s many years of experience, he finds that he has a good idea very early on, usually at the first interview with a new client, about what the ultimate outcome should and will be. He sees his role as guiding the client through the process to get to that outcome in the best and most efficient way for the client. Lee often tells clients, “If you can go directly from A to Z, we should not be stopping at every other point along the way.” Lee is acutely aware that the family law process and especially family law litigation can be very expensive and he tries in every case to get to the best reasonably attainable result with the least cost. He deplores attorneys who milk the process, engage in excessive litigation and unproductive and unnecessarily expensive discovery and depositions. However, he never fails to fight hard for clients if litigation is truly necessary in a smart and result oriented way. He has a reputation as a strong and skilled trial attorney who is well-prepared and gets good results for his clients when litigation is required.
